Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a solemn day of remembrance for those who have died in military service to the United States of America. It is a time to honor and pay tribute to the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country. Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day became an official federal holiday in 1971. On this day, Americans across the nation visit cemeteries and memorials to honor the fallen, holding ceremonies and laying wreaths to show respect and gratitude for their service. It is also a time for reflection on the cost of freedom and the valuable contributions of those who gave everything to defend it. Whether through attending parades, flying the flag at half-mast, or observing a moment of silence, Memorial Day serves as a poignant reminder of the courage and selflessness of those who have served in the armed forces, reminding us to never forget their sacrifice and the price they paid for our freedom.
